London Trip June 2024

Lesson: Personal, Social and Emotional Education

Class: Wise Owls Year: 2023 - 2024

We have had a fabulous first day in London. It was a great bus journey down with the children singing the whole way and what eclectic music tastes they have. We had everything from ABBA, to Queen to the Beach Boys and even Miley Cyrus! We arrived at the Natural History Museum at 1.30 and time for a quick look through the dinosaur exhibit before completing an evolution trail through some of the other exhibits. The children really enjoyed this activity despite it being incredibly hot in the museum. We then left the museum and headed to our accommodation and got settled in our rooms before a quick freshen up then out for dinner. We enjoyed a lovely meal in Zizzi's before ambling along the river past the Globe Theatre and back home for the night. We are looking forward to an action packed day tomorrow.

Day 2 in London has been incredible. We started the day off with a delicious breakfast before heading out on a walking tour of some of the main sites. We managed to see the London Eye, Westminster Bridge, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, St James' Park, Downing Street, the Horse Guards Parade and Trafalgar Square. We were thrilled to see the Royal Standard flying at Buckingham Palace letting us know King Charles was home. We were hoping we would get a glimpse as he was leaving and we were so lucky... as we walked down the Mall and were passing Clarence House, His Majesty came past in his car and even gave us a wave!

After our walking tour we headed off to the Tower of London where we saw the Crown Jewels and looked at the armoury collection. Of course we heard the legends of the ravens and even spotted some around the grounds before getting the obligatory photos with some guards and a Beefeater! Following the tower we hopped on a boat for a river cruise where we took in more of the sights before heading off for tea before ending the day in the theatre. We watched Matilda the musical and it did not disappoint. What a fabulous end to a fabulous day. One more day to go then home.

Day 3 in London was our final day. We packed up and headed off to the Harry Potter Tour at Warner Bros Studios. It was a fabulous day exploring the sets and learning about what happens behind the scenes on the film set. A perfect end to the perfect trip!
