Forest School
Forest School sessions are run by our qualified Forest School instructor Mrs L Parkinson. Every class in school participates in Forest School throughout the year. The Ladybirds and Butterflies enjoy weekly sessions; Busy Bees, Eager Beavers and Wise Owls take part for one morning a week for a half term at a time. The site is given a rest over the winter months to allow it to recover and for regrowth.
Each child requires suitable kit for Forest School including: warm outdoor clothes, waterproofs and wellies.
Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and complements the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.
Our Forest School sessions include a taught activity followed by investigation and free-play, reflection and often a campfire. Each session is planned by the Forest School Instructor and progression of knowledge and skills that we aim for our pupils to develop can be seen in our Forest School documents below.
