Hibernation homes makeover
Class: Forest School Year: 2020 - 2021
Today the children decided to give their hibernation homes a makeover and extend them even more. Extra leaves and hideout holes were added and the the homes seemed to double in size. The children were excited when they realised the hedgehog food had gone!
We discussed the needs of birds during the winter months and we made bird feeders with lard and mealworms. We also learnt about the amazing process of bird migration and how the willow warbler bird will travel over 5,000 miles from Africa to the UK. We had been noticing the flocks of geese these last few weeks flying over our area and Mrs Jones informed us that Martin Mere is used as a stop over/pit stop for many migrating birds.
