Wise Owls on the Allotments
This week, Wise Owls worked on the school field as part of their Green Day activities. They had a very productive time. A yew tree was planted a few years ago - it is right at the back of the field - and it gets swamped by tall ferns that grow around and through it. One team of children cut back all of the growth around it - see the photos for a 'before' and 'after' picture. Our compost bins are nearly full and the children enjoyed the challenge of getting so much garden waste into them. Some children gave the saplings that Wise Owls planted about 18 months ago some much needed TLC. The children also helped to tidy some of the raised beds and they loved collecting potatoes from the potato drills.
