More sporting success to end the school year
For the last sporting event of the year, two teams attended the Tag-Rugby tournament at Ormskirk Rugby Club on a beautiful, sunny Saturday morning. I decided to split the children according to age, so we had a Year 6 team and a Year 5 team. We are very grateful for the support of Oliver Brown and Jon Anderson for looking after the Year 6 team. As always, this particular Level 2 School Games event was a 3-tiered competion, with the teams progressing to one of the tiers in the knockout phase, determined by where they finish in their groups in the preliminary group phase.
Our Year 6 team won all of their group games and progressed to the top tier. After two more games it was a draw between us and St. Johns, so it was decided that we should share the Cup, as joint-overall winners of the tournament. Well done to Year 6 (and Lydia!)
Our Year 5 team progressed to the third tier of the competition, the Plate. They then went on to win their next two games to win that trophy. The Year 5 children in this team have played tag-rugby consistently for 2 years in after-school training and the progress in their skills and tactics is clear to see. It is very much a mixed-gender sport and I am so pleased with the effort and commitment these boys and girls have shown.
