Astley Hall Trip
Eager Beavers visited Astley Hall for a fantastic workshop about the Great Plague. Our leaders were Humphrey the servant and Mrs Cook, who shared their in-depth knowledge about the plague. First, we dressed up as plague doctors. Then, we picked our own herbs from the Walled Garden, to make our own posies, which were supposed to keep the plague away. Next, we were shown the Oak Bedroom and learnt about how the servants looked after the Lord and Lady of the Hall. After that, we studied wee samples, to diagnose which patients had the plague and had a go at using the tools used for surgery! Finally, we learnt the 'rat dance', to keep those pesky rats away!
