The children had a great time at Forest School this week. They were set a challenge to make a boat out of the available resources. They had to hunt for bits of bark and sticks. Mrs Glover taught them how to use a hand drill to put a hole in the log/stick/bark for the mast. The children could test their boat to see if it would float. The children used lots of mathematical language and their problem solving skills were challenged when some did not float. They soon realised they needed 'shorter' masts and 'wider' bases to make the boat float. The teachers were most impressed with their perseverence and determination to succeed!
