Welcome to Ladybirds and Butterflies

Our class teacher is Mrs Lyon and our teaching assistant is Mrs Wood. 

This is a mixed age class. Our nursery children are Ladybirds and Reception are Butterflies.

Children of this age follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which involves the following:

• Learning is through focused play
• Learning outdoors in own teaching area
• Forest School
• Positive ethos.

Class News

Welcome to our class page, please have a look through the news, blog and gallery pages to see what the children have been doing. 

PE - Tuesday (afternoon): The children in Butterflies will need their PE kit to get changed at school. Ladybirds will need to come to school in their trainers.

Forest School - Wednesday: Please remember to pack wellies, overalls, spare clothes and hats/gloves.

Phonics

In Reception, we follow Red Rose Phonics scheme. We have reading books for home, which supports our phonics development as they include the sounds we are learning in class. We recommend they read little and often at home to develop their confidence and reading.

In Nursery, we are focusing on Phase 1 Phonics which forms the foundations of learning to read and write in preparation for Reception.
