Mrs Gardner

Welcome to Ladybirds and Butterflies

Hello my name is Mrs. Gardner and I am the class teacher of children in Nursery and Reception.

You can contact me via ClassDojo, Tapestry or email me (jennagardner@wlsj.lanc.sch.uk).

We have two teaching assistants -  Mrs. Glover and Mrs. Wood.

This is a mixed age class. Our nursery children are Ladybirds and Reception are Butterflies.

Children of this age follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which involves the following:

  • Learning is through focused play
  • Learning outdoors in own teaching area
  • Small class setting - approximately 24
  • Forest School every week
  • Positive ethos.

Class News

Welcome to the new school year. This week we are busy meeting all our news friends.

In RE we will be thinking about friendship and how we can be a good friend.

Forest School will be decided once all the children are settled into their new school routine.

Butterflies  will be having PE on Thursday morning. Please ensure they have the correct PE kit of white t-shirt, red shorts, grey or red tracksuit and black pumps. This half term PE is cricket.

Homework

Homework in Ladybirds and Butterflies is to read every night. Sharing a story book contributes to their growing imagination, expressive lanugage and development of understanding of text. Children in Butterflies will begin to bring school reading books home as they progress in phonics.

Maths Home Learning Book will begin next half term.
