Meet The Staff

Mrs Albion

Head Teacher

Although I am the Headteacher of St. James, I consider myself to be a teacher too. I trained at Edge Hill College back in the 1980s and have since taught at five schools, including St. James.

My passion for teaching is based on the joy that comes from the challenge of nurturing each child to be the best person they can be and to enable them to reach their academic potential. I value a broad and balanced curriculum as I believe that each child should experience the widest range of opportunities as possible. Generally in life, the tallest towers have the widest bases with firm foundations.

Over the years, I’ve seen a continual stream of changes in teaching, many of which I support and applaud. The rapid developments in I.T. are altering the structure of teaching somewhat where the teacher is the trainer who sets out the task and related skills but then has to allow the children to take off and work at their own fast pace! Teachers are becoming facilitators.

I am lucky to be in a job that I love.

I have many hobbies:
Nurturing children, supporting adults, skiing, running, painting, gardening, salsa dancing and sewing.
